Our ICC has a total population of 32,292
We have a significantly older population than the national level and aging at a faster rate in future. The proportion of over 65’s is the highest in the area and is projected to rise by 60% by 2035.
We have a higher average length of stay (6 days) (ALOS) in long term care than the county average (5.3 days). Beds at the local authority and independent sector are highly occupied. At least 24% of our patients could be better served in a local setting.
We have a lower proportion of younger people living in our area – 24% aged under 25 compared to England average of 30.6%
We have a higher ratio of elective hospital admissions for hip replacement with a standardised admission ratio of 133.3 (England 100).
In 2014/15 there were 73398 outpatient appointments, 8003 A&E visits, 5735 unplanned and 4065 planned admissions.
